31 Day Art Journal Challenge Day 6

Today's challenge was
Create Something with Wings.

Most people that know me know that I love turtles and tortoises.  So I wanted to draw a tortoise with wings.  I have never been much of a drawer, but I decided to give it a shot.  I kind of cheated and used one of my daughter's how to draw animals book.  I love how the tortoise turned out, I almost didn't want to put wings on him.  I also didn't want to color it or do anything else to it because I like it just the way it is.

31 Day Art Journal Challenge Day 5 (Mixed Media Monday)

Today's Challenge is
Create Using Horizontal Stripes.

I started using some spray to create a background and then I added some stripes of paint.
Then I took one of my kids coloring books and picked a cute picture from it.  I then found a bunch of striped paper and did some paper piecing.  This is what I came up with.
Thanks for looking.  Let me know what you think.

31 Day Art Journal Challange Day 4

Today's Challenge was
Choose one color and create a page using only shades of that color.
Feel free to use black and white.

My favorite color is teal.  So I started doodling on the page and then added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers.
It was a little too dark for me so I added some distress paint and some sprays.  This is how it turned out.

31 Day Art Journal Challenge Day 3

Today's Challenge was
Sing your own Song.  Write your own theme song and decorate the page edges with doodles.

I had a really hard time picking a song and I'm not creative enough to write my own.  The first song I thought of was Hair.  When I was a kid I loved that song and I still do, but I wasn't sure if it is a theme song.  So I went with Lazy by Bruno Mars.  I love that song and I can't be lazy all the time I do enjoy it sometimes.  So this is the page I came up with.

I can't get my camera to take a good picture.  I hand drew the picture and then painted it with distress inks.  I like how it turned out and it makes me smile.

Thanks for looking.  Let me know what you think.

31 Day Art Journal Challenge Day 2

So today's challenge is
Write a small page about one of the best memories or favorite pastime you have spent with a
relative(s). Include a photo or sketch if you wish.

As some of you know last summer my family and I took a 71 day trip around the country.  It was the best summer ever and we had a great time, so I had a picture printed from last summer and I decided that my page would include that picture.

I started by using distress paint in mustard seed, seedless preserves and broken china.

I added some water to the paint to make it run.
Then I used a Studio Calico stencil and picket fence distress paint and I also used a polka dot stamp and some black ink for some texture.

I then added my picture and drew my title.
Then I added some doodling and the date and called it done.  I really like how it turned out and it was pretty quick and easy.

Thanks for looking.  Please let me know what you think.

Pocket Thursday Week 36

Hi Everyone,
Today I finished my Week 36.  I had a couple extra pictures so I used a 4x6 pocket I purchased from Close to My Heart I had in my stash for a long time.  It gave me just enough space so I could fit all my pictures.  I can't remember which kit the cards came from, but I think they are really cute.  I used embellishments from We R Memory Keepers, Studio Calico, and Me and My Big Ideas.

31 Day Art journal Challenge Day 1

So I decided to Join the challenge.  I have never done anything like this before, but it sounded like fun so I'm giving it a shot.  So today's challenge was

Imagine that you have been delivering mail door to door, house to house year after year. Seeing one bland, plain, boring mailbox after another bland, plain, boring mailbox.
Now picture yourself as the homeowner, picking up your mail day after day from your very own bland, plain, boring old mailbox.
What if you could decorate your mailbox in any way you wish?

So This is what I came up with.
